Payload
The data carried by a webhook or API call. When a client fills your contact form, the webhook payload contains their name, email, message, and metadata. Your automation parses this payload to trigger the right actions.
Expert insight
The payload a webhook actually sends often differs from what its documentation describes, especially for optional fields that are simply omitted rather than sent as null when empty. Workflows that assume a field will always be present in the payload break the first time a real-world event doesn't include it.
