Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
On a $40 cost sold at $60: profit is $20, markup is 50% (20 ÷ 40), margin is 33% (20 ÷ 60).
What margin should I aim for?
It depends on the business: physical products often target 40 to 70% gross margin, software and services higher.
