Data mapping
Connecting fields from one system to fields in another. Example: mapping "First Name" from Typeform to "firstname" in HubSpot. Poor data mapping causes silent errors where records are created but fields are blank.

Expert insight
The most fragile part of any integration is the field mapping between two systems that don't share a data model, "Company Name" in one tool and "Account.Name" in another. Hardcoding these mappings works until either system renames a field, which is why production workflows should fail loudly (not silently drop the field) when an expected source field goes missing.
In a real workflow
The Typeform field "Company" is mapped to the HubSpot property "company" and "Team size" to "numberofemployees".
Common mistakes
- Mapping by field position instead of name, which breaks when a form changes.
- Not deciding what happens when a source field is empty.
Complexity level
Anyone can understand this no technical background needed.
